Saint Mary's is a Catholic Maintained co educational primary school in a rural setting about 2.5 miles from Castlewellan. The impressive Mournes lie to our east while Slieve Croob lies to our west. Visitors to our school always comment on our beautiful surroundings! The school was first opened in 1965 and currently has an enrolment of 100. We have a main school building with 3 classrooms and two offices. We also have a multi-purpose Key Stage 1 building with a staff room.
The school aims to create a Christ centred atmosphere which fosters growth in faith and love. Each child is provided with a broad, balanced curriculum which promotes the child's spiritual, moral, cultural, intellectual and physical development in a secure and caring environment.
Emphasis is also placed on developing self confidence, self esteem and consideration for others. Pupils are encouraged to produce a high standard of work and conduct themselves in a positive manner.
A wide range of extra curricular activities are also undertaken within the school. Some sporting activities include Gaelic football, hurling, camogie, handball, netball, basketball, aerobics, cycling proficiency, cross country running and athletics. Our children have also successfully competed in Cumann na mBunscoil general knowledge quizzes at county and provincial level. There is a healthy music scene in the school with guitar and tin whistle clubs and an enthusiastic school choir. We regularly perform school concerts / plays / musical activities in school and the community. The school is also involved in Trócaire fund raising (and other fund raising).

Boys: navy trousers, green jumper, white shirt, navy / green striped tie.
Girls: navy pinafore / skirt, green cardigan / jumper, white shirt, navy / green striped tie.
P.E. UNIFORM:
- A white unbranded polo shirt
- Navy jogging bottoms
- School jumper (which can be removed during P.E. lessons)
