Information for parents and carers 2024 - 2025
Dear Parents
We are delighted to be welcoming back our pupils for a new academic year and look forward to an exciting year ahead filled with fun, laughter and learning. In addition to this we are all very excited to meet our pupils joining us for the first time.
Below is an outline of important information for parents and carers as we enter this new academic year.

School Restart Details
Reception new starts & Primary 1
Children will be brought into school on Friday 30th August from 9.00am – 11.00am to help them settle in. Only reception pupils with a 30th August starting date can attend on this day. Pupils may bring a small break with them on this day. Information has been sent to parents, however, if you need to clarify or have any concerns regarding your child please contact the school office on 02843778460.
Primary 2 – 7
School reopens after the holidays on Monday 2nd September for the rest of our pupils.
Breakfast Club and After school club will also operate from Monday 2nd September. If you wish to book a place for your child please contact the office on 02843778460 or email hcairns221@c2ken.net .

30th August – New Primary 1 pupils start school
2nd September – All pupils return to school
28th October – 1st November – Halloween break
20th December – School closes at 12.00 noon for Christmas holidays
23rd December – 6th January – Christmas break
6th January – Parent meetings
7th January – Pupils return to school
10th – 14th February – Mid-term break
17th March – St Patrick’s Day
17th April – School closes at 12.00 noon for Easter holidays
18th – 25th April – Easter break
28th April – Pupils return to school
5th May – Bank holiday weekend
26th – 27th May – Bank holiday and INSET day
27th June – School closes at 12.00 noon for Summer holidays
Uniform:
Pupils should wear a full school uniform / PE gear (on designated days) to school every day. All items of uniform should be clearly labelled to avoid loss. School Bags and Lunch boxes / Bags are permitted.
UNIFORM:
Boys: navy trousers, green jumper, white shirt, navy / green striped tie.
Girls: navy pinafore / skirt, green cardigan / jumper, white shirt, navy / green striped tie.
P.E. UNIFORM:
A white unbranded polo shirt
Navy jogging bottoms
School P.E. top
P.E. timetables have yet to be finalised, pupils should wear school uniform until P.E. dates are announced.
School Timetable:
Start: 9am
Break: 10.45-11am
Lunch: 12.30-1.05pm
Hometime:
- P1, 2, 3 1.45pm
- P4, 5, 6, 7 2.45pm
Friday early finish:
- P1, 2, 3 - 1:05pm
- P4, 5, 6, 7 - 2:05pm
Child Protection Procedures
All schools are now required to inform parents of their child protection procedures. All staff, both teaching and support, have received training in this area.
Mr P Higgins and Mrs O McEvoy are the school’s designated teachers. If you have any concerns regarding the safety of a pupil in our school please contact them at your nearest convenience. The current Child Protection policy can be found at the school’s website. A revised version will be sent via the school messaging system in the coming weeks.

New start pupils will receive a letter to sign up to the messaging system.
